Room for Talent
We love to joke about “millennials” or “boomers” and don’t hesitate to be biased about Gen-Z. Still, it’s good to think about how important today’s youth really are. Gen-Z are still in school now or just entering the workforce. But how do we actually prepare them for the “real thing”? At StudioXR we think it’s important to devote time and effort to the generations of the future.
Transparency, self-reliance, flexibility and personal freedom are important values among today’s young people. This means that within our team, too, we are dealing with a work ethic where these words are given the space they need. And that’s convenient, because many of these terms are already pretty central to us. Through open communication and flex-workplaces (in combination with working from home), we facilitate as many needs as possible and keep everyone on their toes… including our interns. After all, we think it is important that the new generation of programmers, 3D artists or audio/visual talents find a good connection within their field of work. After all, they are the future of the industry.
“We have a social responsibility to share our knowledge
with the new generation.”
Part of the team
At StudioXR, there are always interns around. Or rather Junior employees, because as an intern you are “just” a member of the team. Your opinion counts and your growing expertise gained during real projects and assignments are just as important as those of the others. And that’s a conscious choice we make. All too often we hear that employers don’t actually have a good idea of how Gen-Z likes to work. This “disconnect” causes many young people to quit their education or work fairly soon. A shame! Because there is an extraordinary amount of talent walking around; talent that we would like to keep inside or at least offer a chance to grow so that they can then enter the job market as champions. This benefits them, but of course it benefits us as well.
“We employ many different experts in different disciplines. That makes a big pond for interns to fish from. Inspiration is often more important than motivation.”
Inspiration is more important than Motivation
Doing an internship at StudioXR means that you spend the first two weeks mainly sniffing around with different experts. Based on the experiences you gain there, we determine what your internship assignment will be. If we can link this to an existing or future project of ours, that’s great, but the learning needs of the intern are decisive. In this way, we always try to get the best out of everyone. From research research shows that Gen-Z does not need to be motivated but rather inspired. And we get that inspiration together from anything we can be involved with. Whether it’s an assignment in the Green Screen Studio, or a project where 3D models need to be linked to our Unreal or Unity Engine; there is plenty of room and inspiration to develop.
